One year ago, SmileSip officially landed in the United States, and I still get chills thinking about it. Not because it was “just a launch” … but because it was a movement. A preventive, clinician-powered, patient-first movement that I’m so proud to have helped lead into the USA.
SmileSip started as an innovation created by Australian dentist Dr. Angie Lang—and the second I understood the mission, I knew this couldn’t be introduced the usual way. This had to be shared through the people who live and breathe prevention every single day.
How SmileSip started: two dental professionals, one mission (Australia → USA)
SmileSip is one of those rare ideas that’s simple and powerful: a functional beverage created by a dental professional for real-life oral health problems.
It began in Australia with Dr. Angie Lang, who developed SmileSip with a clear goal to make oral wellness easier to do consistently, not just something we talk about twice a year at the dental office.
When I discovered SmileSip, I immediately saw what it could mean for patients and for prevention-minded clinicians here in the States. So, we brought it across the world—from Australia to the USA—with one shared mission: save smiles by making prevention feel as easy as a daily habit.
The “one-a-day” habit that supports healthier mouths
Here’s the heart of SmileSip: it’s designed to be used at least once a day as part of your routine.
Because when you can support the mouth daily, you can support the things that actually make patients miserable (and make dentistry harder): dry mouth, dehydration, irritated tissues, and the constant cycle of “I’m trying, but I can’t keep up.”
What SmileSip helps support
SmileSip is made to support oral wellness in a way that fits real life. Used daily, it can help:
• Save smiles by supporting a healthier oral environment
• Prevent dry mouth and support comfort throughout the day
• Support hydration (especially for busy humans, mouth breathers, travelers, and anyone on drying medications)
• Aid in tissue repair by supporting healthier-feeling oral tissues
• Help keep stains away so smiles stay brighter between cleanings
It’s prevention you can actually stick with—because it tastes good and it’s easy.
We launched through hygienists first (and now it’s bigger than that)
We originally launched SmileSip through dental hygienists—because hygienists are the prevention experts in dentistry. We’re the ones having the real conversations chairside:
• “How do we make this easier at home?”
• “How do we support dry mouth, pH balance, and enamel health in real life?”
• “How do we help patients build habits they’ll actually stick with?”
But the mission has grown (because it needed to). Today, SmileSip is for all dental professionals and affiliates who believe oral wellness should be simple, evidence-informed, and easy to share.
RDHUOR felt like coming home
Our 1-year anniversary celebration happened in the most fitting place possible: RDHUOR, the largest hygienist conference.
Being back at RDHUOR again—celebrating in the exact place where it all began—was honestly surreal. Same conference, bigger mission, stronger community. It was a full-circle moment that reminded me: when prevention people lead, change happens fast.
Happy Birthday, SmileSip. I'm proud to have you as a part of my life and cannot wait to have you become a part of so many others when they realize what a game-changer SmileSip is for wellness and longevity. Smiles connect us, and you can't have overall health without oral health.
